I took piano lessons for 8 years, and even won an award for junior composition, but I hated every minute of it. The summer between 8th and 9th grade I vowed to never play the piano again, and I haven't.

As a child, I became obsessed with the idea of being able to raise one eyebrow.

I spent countless hours working at it, until I was finally able to do it (something I was immensely proud of).

Several years later, when I was showing someone my strange skill, they responded with "Cool. Do the other one."

I was disappointed to discover that I couldn't do it. Even though I knew exactly what I needed to do with the muscles, I simply couldn't get the ones on that side of my face to behave properly.

I spent some time trying to train myself to be able to raise the other eyebrow, but was actually hindered by the fact that I could already raise one of them. Eventually I gave up.

I can still raise my right eyebrow, but no amount of effort will raise the left one without the right.

When we lived in Turkey, we had to haul drinking water up from the artisian well two blocks and down a LARGE hill. Not too bad in the summer time, but winter sucked, having to haul heavy containers of water UP the hill.
