I don't know about you, but as I get further in time away from my parents, I like to celebrate their lives in some small way. Like the time I went to an aviation museum and then went bowling to celebrate my Dad. Or the time I went to the WWII Memorial on the 25th anniversary of his death.
Maybe you could read a chapter from one of his favorite books, or surf websites relating to his favorite hobbies. Or some activity involving your kids. Just some thoughts.
I like luscious_purple's ideas about mourning one's parents. I have a mum who's dying at the moment and I can think of things I could do to remember her when she's finally gone.
I'm sorry you're missing your dad. I'm sending you out as much love as a virtual hug can carry and sympathy as well.
