I think you should wear any wig or other headcovering that makes you feel fabulous. Screw 40, you know? Just because we're...uh...not spring chickens, we don't have to turn into matrons.
As for head wraps, I know a few good sources, but most of them are Islamic (OTOH, some of them have fabulous scarves that you can wear any way you want)...BTW, modest_style has some *really* good links, and is very much open to such questions.
ETA...links you might be able to use for scarves and headwraps: All but one of these are really for hijab. However, shayla and shawl styles can be adapted to be just headscarves (al-amara, niqab, khimar: probably not.
