So. Yesterday.
Went to Rowan's 5th grade DARE graduation. Nice program, winning kids got to read their essays, she got a certificate. I was a little tired toward the end, because being out for almost two hours takes a lot out of me these days. Still, very proud of my girl.
Andrew was in a meeting during the graduation, or he'd have been there too. I texted him that the ceremony was over and sat by the one handicap spot in the parking lot to wait (normally there are more spots, but the others were blocked off due to construction). It was a very hot, muggy late morning yesterday, and I started feeling not-so-great. I went and got someothing to drink, and kept waiting. By the half-hour mark, I was really feeling puny. I knew Andrew was only a 10 minute drive away and his meeting was over, so I kept thinking he'd be along any second. I moved to a shadier spot after about 45 minutes. By the hour mark, I was feeling like death warmed over, and I'd gotten a text saying Andrew had been pulled over on his way to get me (for answering the phone the one time I tried to call to tell him my phone battery was dying). I vaguely remember Andrew getting there, but by then I wasn't up to looking at the time any more.
And I don't remember anything else until I wolke up in the ER over 3 hours later.
What Andrew's told me is that I went to sleep and he couldn't wake me up. As he put it, I creashed. Hard. I've been told there were a lot of tests run. Apparently I didn't flinch when the IV went in, or during the urine cath or the rectal temp. Nope, don't remember any of this. I do remember asking Andrew why he let them shove tubes up my nose, and him laughing that of all the things that had been done, that was the one I noticed and complained about.
All of my test results came back normal. We think it was a combination of starvation (I hadn't eaten since dinner Tuesday night; before that, it was lunch Sunday; I'm not sure before then), the heat and my general medical issues tackling me. The doc suggested that if I'm showing that much of a reaction to heat, I might be dealing with MS, so that's something to look for when I get around to getting the brain MRI done. Yay, another misunderstood disease possibility!
But I'm all better now, and Andrew is unobtrusively making sure I eat while he's here. Rowan and I are going to work on an action plan in case this happens while Andrew's out of town for the next two weeks. On the off chance I'm unresponsive when the kids get home from school, she'll be ready.
