This is why I do it...

So I was just out in the stacks helping a sweet little grandmother learn how to use the online catalog. I showed her how to find the book she wanted, and then (since it wasn't at my branch) showed her how to request that it be sent here from the branch that does have it.

She was thrilled beyond belief to see that not only could she pick out the book she wanted, once her library card was entered the computer actually knew her name!

She hugged me when we were done. It gave me warm fuzzies. :)
