deza: (frustrated bunny)
I'm taking this directly from the email Gilbert Head sent to me, with some minor editing for clarity:

Good Afternoon, Friends and Family of Tom Deitz.

It is time to celebrate the life of the man we loved so well. Please consider this a not particularly formal invitation to join in this celebration (Tom was not particularly formal anyway). Tom was very specific that he wanted this gathering to be a celebration, and so we will do our best to do exactly that. I want to keep the form of this pretty straightforward, so we'll get to the particulars:

WHEN: Sunday Afternoon May 3, from 2:00-4:00 PM, though folks are invited to arrive early and linger for food, fellowship, and a little music.

WHERE: On the beautiful campus of Gainesville State University, in Gainesville, GA, in the memorial garden space adjacent to the Student Center.

WHAT: We will have a series of speakers during the formal program, a display of some of Tom's art and artifact, a photo-display of scenes from a life well-lived, some special live music, a little food, a memory book where folks can tell their favorite TDeitz stories, some balloons, and a whole lot of Southern huggin' and visitin' .

Tom's sister Wilda Quarantino, her husband Bob, and dear friends Paul Matthews, Brad Strickland and Dana Nichols are but a few of the folks who join me in welcoming you to this chance to remember a pretty special friend and brother. If you know of some of Tom's friends who haven't seen this, please feel free to share it forward.

One more thing before I send this along. Some have asked that I post the text of the 'official' obituary announcement herein, and I do so gladly:

Thomas Franklin Deitz
