We had the island Saint Patrick's Day Festival on Saturday. It was a long day. I talked Andrew into taking Guinness along, so he had some good training work in. Andrew got kid-wrangling duty so he could take them on the rides. Guinness handled pulling me around like a champ. He was friendly, polite, worked hard, and I got a number of compliments on how well-behaved he was. Best was when a lady who used to be a puppy raiser told me that for his age, he was fantastic. He still needs work, of course, but he's doing remarkably well for a dog that hasn't had any public training in almost six months. We even went into a grocery store without any problems. Now that I've gotten over my jitters over taking him out in public, I think I'll feel a lot more confidant about using him to go to the commisary when we move.

Rowan sang karaoke for the first time. I think she's hooked. She's got a great voice. The drunks that had been heckling everyone else actually cheered her on in her performance. I'm so proud of her.

Then Sunday we finally met up with the local SCA folks. The website is nigh impossible to navigate for any useful information; we found out about them because the deputy seneschal saw Andrew's name on a Marshal in Training list, and contacted us. I'm thinking about changing my persona (again). When I started Shirin bint Abdullah, I was into bellydance and greyhounds. Neither of those are elements in my life any more. I'm thinking of going into writing roman a clef as an A&S focus (does anyone currently have a Laurel in writing? I need someone to pester), so Western European would make more sense.

Today I'm not doing so well. My painkillers really aren't working so well today. I've got this sharp, stabbing pain in my mid-back that is very different from my normal pain. Since Andrew's gone for work reasons again, I get to grin and bear it. Hopefully whatever this is will show up on the CT scan next week. It would be nice to have some answers.

We're still waiting on the "the house is ready" call from base. I can't wait! Andrew and the kids and I have already been looking at paint chips and figuring out how we want to paint the place. The kids will be in walking/bike riding distance of their new school.Best of all, I'll be in a house where I can actually leave when I want, instead of being stranded at the top of a flight of stairs I can't manage any more. It will be so nice to be able to do little things like go outside and walk the dog around the neighborhood.
