Yes, I went to one of the midnight showings last night. SO worth it.

However, I was pre-emptively chastised about putting things behind a cut. I'd have done so anywho, but since I got pre-emptively chastised about it, I feel the need to state that I would never put anything about the Draco-Crookshanks OTP or the Umbridge/Filtch snogfest or the bit where Snape loses his trousers outside of a cut. Really.

No, those things didn't really happen. Well, Snape did have his trousers ripped off, but it was off-camera, so that doesn't really count. I was kind of disappointed by several facets of the movies. I'd have liked to see more of Harry's isolation from the other students at Hogwarts, better development of the rebellion against Umbridge, and the actual discussion of the meaning behind the name "Dumbledore's Army." I would have liked to have seen more of the fight in the Department of Mysteries; instead of just being in the Hall of Prophecy and the room with the arch, I wanted to see the timeturner and the assorted other magical rooms.

That being said, good movie! I loved the sets, as usual. The Room of Requirement and the Department of Mysteries were excellent. Much like Time was a character in the last movie, Reflection was a character in this one. Mirrors and reflections were key elements throughout. The thestrals were perfect. Luna was cast well, and Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix made insanity look damn sexy. The movie was very specific on Sirius being dead before he went through the arch, unlike the ambiguity of the book.

Would have really liked to have Gary Oldman and David Thewlis come home with me after. RAWR. I even said as much to the pregnant lady I was chatting with before the movie (poor thing--her hubby has been in the sandbox for nearly all of her pregnancy, she doesn't have anyone local to talk to and she's scared stiff about giving birth next month). Then I went home and had a *very* vivid dream about a Sirius/Lupin/me three-way. My dreams don't normally leave me sore the next morning, but I'll take it. ;)

Well, your icon ruins the surprise cameo appearance of Samuel L. Jackson!

Not chastized. Requested maybe, but certainly not chastized.

Yeah, what was with all that Filch in this movie?!?

I think director David Yates likes cats. *meow*

The odd thing was, as often as you saw him, he never said anything.

Same with Ginny--she was in nearly every group scene, but did she have any speaking lines at all?

I had similar issues with the movie, particularly the lack of building to why he's so pissed with everyone by the time he gets to the headquarters. Really didn't like how they got rid of the pensieve as the way he got to Snape's memories -- he's just learning occlumency, and not well, and he bests Snape in it? That screws up a bunch of book 6, doesn't it? The thestrels were cool, and I adored Luna, but honestly I preferred the twins exit in the book, and most of the battle felt more real in that, too.

I think the problem is that I only read the book last month...

Hehe...I think it was Sirius and Lupin in the doorway when Harry was brought to the house. I could hear the rumble of millions of slash fans gasp and then sigh in unison. You must have been along for the ride too! ;)

And they did an excellent job with characters NOT talking. Filtch and Ginny were prime examples. Ginny's look at Cho and Harry was PERFECT!!!

And I must agree about Helen *be still my beating heart* Bonham Carter as Bellatrix. Yum.

I thought it was pretty good- though there were so many changes it didn't feel completely like OOtP. Loved the Wizard battle, though, and the new/edited stuff all worked.

My friends are slash girls like me- we had a debate in the car ride home about whether or not they Remus actually had his arm around Sirius in that very first order scene. (I say yes!)
