I tried to go to the local SCA meeting tonight, I really did. Whomever layed out the roads around here was on crack. We managed to get lost for over an hour, by following the directions on Google Maps. On the good side, I found PF Chang's and Cheesecake Factory. By the time I finally found the church, it was half an hour past the meeting start time (or an hour past the amended meeting time that wasn't posted on the calendar), so I just gave up and came home.

On the drive, I heard all about Rowan's band that she's putting together, Goddess help me. Five little girls who's idea of a band is based on watching the Cheetah Girls. Yeah, this will end well.

Well, I'm friends with the one of former Baron/Baronesses down there if that would be helpful. I know a few folks in Tyr-e-don (however you spell it) as well.

I'm also friendly with the Queen of Atlantia :-)

You should come to Holiday Faire in Stierbach.

Not necessarily. They're calling themselves the "Candi Girls."

At least they aren't dancing seductively and singing "Doncha wish your girlfriend was hot like me" or something.

Still, you're right. It can't end well.

You'll meet me eventually. ;) Next week [livejournal.com profile] musicwolf doesn't have duty, so he can drive. Actually, I would have called him for directions--if I hadn't been an idiot and left my phone at home. D'oh!

Layed out? You were in downtown Norfolk if I'm reading this right? The roads weren't laid out, they just sort of happened.

I'm just glad to hear there's a Cheesecake Factory in HR now. Should we ever actually make it back, I won't have to drive three hours to find one.

Actually she was in Pembroke area of Virginia Beach. They just redid the whole area. They are trying to make it into a new "down town" a few sky rises and everything. It's pretty neat. They have all sorts of new things. If you know where Columbus Station is, that's where they are doing it at. There was a small high rise building there already. They tore down all the trees there and built two more sky scrapers and a ton of shops. It's VB's own down town. Right across from the mall. They are getting ready to open the Cultural Center come this spring. They keep adding new things. It's neat. So yeah, when you come to visit... we have Cheesecake Factory right here. And OMG so much more.

I grew up in Va. Beach. I know where Pembroke is. I skated the waffle before it was the waffle (aka Trashmore...the ramp was lt. blue with pool coping before they put waffle tread brown fiberglass on it and replaced the pool coping with steel).

You know it burnt down? I don't know if they rebuilt it. But it burnt down this past summer I think it was. Some kids torched both ramps. They had built a second one there and had a whole skate park going on. Torched both of the ramps. So all that was left was the skate park stuff. None of the big ramps.

They've had two ramps the whole time...the large one and the small one. The small one never got fibered over, but it was a J pipe and you could only drop from one side, which was fairly short. Good for beginners.

Those were donated back in...84ish...sucks that someone lit them on fire. I would hope that Bayville and Redwing still have there ramps?
